Appraisers National Association
(ANA) actively seeks the membership of professionals who have an interest in
issues relating to the appraisal of personal property, and prides itself on
meeting the highest standards of professional appraisal practice. All
Accredited appraising members are required to be trained in and adhere to
the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Every
appraiser must comply with the ANA Code of Ethics, and every appraisal
report must meet the guidelines established by USPAP.

There are four levels of
membership in ANA:
Accredited Appraiser - An individual who has completed the
educational requirements for certification in personal property appraising
from an educational institution (such as the College For Appraisers), or
from other appraisal associations recognized by ANA. In addition, Accredited
Appraisers must have completed a course and exam on the Uniform Standards of
Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
Associate Member - An individual with professional training or
experience in personal property appraising who does not require the benefits
of accreditation.
Professional Affiliate - An individual or organization working in a
field related to, or in support of, the personal property appraising
profession. As an example, this member class may include, but is not limited
to, antique mall and store operators; antique dealers; auctioneers;
insurance agents, companies and brokers; antique/collectibles show
promoters; antique/collectible book and periodical publishers; law firms
engaging in personal property matters; and other appraisal professionals,
organizations, and associations.
Student Associate - An individual currently enrolled in an approved
course of instruction in the field of personal property appraising. Student
Associates are not sanctioned to appraise.

If you wish to apply for
membership, please complete an application form. Please note that the references you identify will be contacted. Be sure to
include a mailing address for each; references will not be contacted by
phone. Please advise your references that they will receive a short
questionnaire from ANA. The failure of your references to respond promptly
will delay the processing of your application for membership.
Applications must be
accompanied by a $35.00 Application Fee. This fee is not refundable. Dues
for membership for the level at which you are applying will be billed to you
upon completion of the election process. Dues are prorated for those who are
joining during, rather than at the beginning of, the membership year.
Annual
dues for membership are currently $150.00 for Accredited Appraisers, $95.00
Associate and Affiliate members, and
$55.00 for students. (The ANA fiscal year begins on July 1st.)
Members receive a certificate suitable for display in their place of
business, the directory of members, a subscription to the newsletter of the
association, occasions to network with members, and opportunities for
further professional training.
